340B Drug Pricing Program

The 340B Federal drug-pricing program is intended to provide financial relief to facilities caring for indigent and medically under-served populations. The Office of Pharmacy Affairs (OPPA) in the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) administers the program. It requires that drug manufacturers provide significant discounts to participating Covered Entities for covered outpatient drugs. Manufacturers participating in the Medicaid program must also participate in the 340B program.

Medicom ensures that hospitals meet their minimum required statutory DSH ratios, depending on the facility's classification, and that the ratios stay securely in place year to year for continuing 340B program qualification.
